Scherzo Music is a well-establishedprofessional music school dedicated to everything music. This is our SUMMER PROGRAMS page.
This page is dedicated to summer programs we offer at Scherzo Music Studios. All our summer programs are taught by experienced and professional educators and coordinated by the same proficient administrative staff who manage our schools during school semesters.
Our mission is to engage youth in safe, fun and stimulating summer activities. We offer programs for experienced musicians as well as those looking to explore a new genre or instrument. We offer both group classes that follow a carefully crafted curriculum and individually tailored lessons to fit the need of every student. Our camps are designed for children from 3 years old to 16 years old. Adult study and college/conservatory preparatory programs are available on an individual basis. We also offer group lessons for students already engaged with music lessons to help them further their education and understanding in theory, ensembles, music history and literature.
Private Lessons are offered throughout summer for instruments and voice. Lessons are available in 30-min, 45-min and 60-min increments. Individual evaluations and preparatory audition classes are available by request.
Group lessons are offered for various age groups and fields of study. Junior Preparatory programs prepare aspiring musicians for private lessons. Music Theory and Solfege classes give an in-depth understanding of music history, theory and ear-training.
A variety of summer camps are offered by our experienced and dedicated musicians. Every week is a different theme so students are encouraged to apply for 1 or several weeks. All camps are offered in mornings only.
All camps are offered from 9 AM - 12 PM on a weekly basis. Every week is a different theme so you can sign up for one or several weeks. Each day includes circle time/intro, lots of music training (singing, performing, rhythmic exercises, listening activities), a team-building exercise, a performance drill, a music history lesson, a craft, a snack, and lots of musical fun. No experience necessary. Class size is limited to 5 kids, groups organized by age. $225 per week.
Campers will venture into the world of music by exploring musical instruments through a variety of games, hands-on experience, listening exercises and art. Each day will focus on one instrument. Campers will learn about this instrument, do an art project, listen to performances and learn the basics of playing it. No prior experience necessary. This is a great start for budding musicians who are unsure about what instruments to pick or experienced players interested in learning and trying other instruments over the summer.
Campers will learn the basics of improvisation, listen to famous jazz musicians, explore the history and art of jazz in the US, learn foundations of music theory.
The focus of this camp is Broadway! Campers will explore two Broadway shows per session, try themselves in a vocal ensemble, learn about basic music notation and history, learn basic vocal warm-ups and play a variety of fun and functional games designed to enhance the voice. No prior experience necessary. This camp is all about music theater!
Do you have a budding rock star? Campers in this camp will learn about rock instruments and try them through a variety of fun games and activities. Each day, students will listen to various performances by famous rock musicians (age appropriate for each group), learn about the history of rock, do an art project and learn basic music theory and notation.
Who doesn’t love a Little Mermaid? Or Anna & Elsa? Campers will play with music of famous animated Disney movies, learning the songs, participating in vocal ensembles, mastering basic singing techniques. An art project is included each day as well as basic music theory and notation.
This is a performance camp though no prior experience is necessary. Campers will explore performance techniques, practice their craft with a mentor, rehearse in front of an audience. Students will also learn about the life and history of Mozart, listen to his music and understand his famous works.

* This is one of our most popular programs. Current graduates attribute their love and understanding of music to Jr Prep! Some of our past graduates are performers at Carnegie Hall! This program is designed for children who are preparing to begin private lessons in a near term. This program includes exploration of instruments and a basic introduction to various genres and composers. Juniors are introduced to basic music notation and rhythmic patterns, learn foundations of playing and listening to music, understanding note values and clapping out various rhythmic patterns. Graduates are usually able to determine what instrument they want to study as part of this program so it is perfect for those children/families who are currently undecided. Maximum 5 kids per class.
